What you should know before your appointment

For your convenience, here are some instructions and information to help you know what to expect, alleviate your anxiety, and make your visit as smooth as possible:

General Questions

Consultation

A consultation is necessary for proper diagnosis and review of treatment options. Most procedures can be performed on the same day as the consultation. However, for more complex treatment plans or patients with an extensive medical history, a separate consultation appointment may be advised.

General Anesthesia

If you plan on being sedated for your procedure, it is very important that you do NOT eat or drink anything for 6 hours prior to your appointment. Also, you will need to bring a driver to your appointment to take you home. Your driver should remain at our office during the appointment. Patients should not drive or operate heavy machinery for a full 24 hours after the use of general anesthesia, or while taking prescription pain medications.

Minors

If the patient is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be present for the consultation.

What to bring

Please bring to your appointment the specialty referral form from your dentist and any current x-rays (Note: We accept digital copies of x-rays and referral forms). If a current x-ray is unavailable we can take a new one at our office on the day of your appointment. We would be happy to send your paperwork in advance if you wish to fill it out before your appointment. If you have dental insurance that you would like us to use to file claims on your behalf, please have that information available as well.

Medical Concerns

If you have any medical conditions that we should be aware of, or if you are currently taking medications, please inform our staff when making your appointment. Unless otherwise notified by a member of our staff, take all medications as usual (with a sip of water, if necessary).

What to wear

Please remove all jewelry from the neck up for your appointment. This includes all piercings. Wear something comfortable and loose fitting to allow proper placement of all monitoring equipment.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office at (360) 923-5412.
